Riverdale Historic District proposal [picture] (between 1950 and 1979).

Photographs of the Colgate Mansion (5 prints) and the Woodworth Mansion (4 prints) in the proposed Riverdale Historic District, both built in the mid-nineteenth century. The Colgate Mansion, built by Robert Colgate on land purchased from Mrs. Henry L. Atherton in 1853, is still standing. The Woodworth Mansion, owned by William K. Woodworth, as shown in 1905, was built in 1853 and is no longer standing. Frederick Law Olmstead is thought to have designed the gardens of both homes.
